This is the evening bat flight at Carlsbad Caverns.
One of my daughters is a bat freak. I told her, when I was a kid I had seen more bats than I could count one evening in New Mexico. She thought I was crazy. So she checked out a bunch of books from the library to see if I was right. When she found the articles on Carlsbad she decided to see for herself. So on one of our trips out west we made a side trip to see the bats.
If you go, be sure you do as my daughter did and buy an Adopt a Bat Package. Do what you can to learn about the life of bats and remember "Bats need friends too."
The Carlsbad area has things for those of you not interested in caves and bats. A short drive from the Park is Roswell, NM. There you can visit the UFO Museum. You can buy a stone from the alien crash site for a quarter or a dead alien in a jar for $15. You can even get a spaceship drivers license.
