Washington Crossing State Park

in New Jersey

Washington Crossing State Park

In the foreground is where Washington's troops landed in New Jersey on their way to capture the Hessians at Trenton on Christmas 1776. This location is now a State Park.

In the background across the Delaware River is Washington Crossing National Historic Park. Marking the spot where Colonial troops left Pennsylvania to start their march.

This was one of those strange trips. Due the lack of street markings and multiple intersecting roads in Pennsylvania I could not initially find the National Park; even though I had 2 GPS units. After one of them actually had me in a field across the river in New Jersey, I decided to look for Washington Crossing State Park in New Jersey. As you can see in this photo, I was then able to see and eventually go to the National Park.
