Welcome to Atlanta

in Georgia

Glass all over back seat.

This is a picture of the back seat of my Rodeo after my stopover in Atlanta. This happened in a so called security garage. I selected this garage because it was listed on the brochure for the restaurant we went to. It had one entrance and one exit.

Of course the security guard and the attendant did not see or hear anything. Even though every out of State car on the second level was broken into.

The thief was not just after the items in my car. I know this because he/she did not just break in the window of the car. The #$%*! stuck a lug wrench in the door and pried it apart.

Then to top it all off the Atlanta Police Department would not even take our report for 7 hours. They would not take my report until 4:00 AM. They did not care that more was taken from one car, let alone all the cars, than is taken in the average bank robbery.

They also had no provisions for handling reports from people that do not live in Atlanta. I ran up a huge cellular bill that night because every time I called they could not handle me. The only time they would work with me was when they called me. This meant I could not use the pay phone with its local charges. I had to pay for my cellular air time. Now to get an offical report I cannot request it via the phone. Their first answer was that I needed to come to the police station to get it no sooner than 7 days after my filing. They finally agreed I could request it in writing via the US mail.

If they (the police) cared, the thief could never get away with unloading some of the items I had taken. How many Voigtlander Vito B cameras in perfect working order are there in Atlanta. Why would someone be trying to sell a Voigtlander camera, but have only Minolta MD lenses to go with it.

I do want to thank the folks at State Farm and the Atlanta South KOA. The folks at State Farm understood I was on vacation and made provisions for me to meet a repair person at our destination Orlando. That meant the kids did not miss anytime at Disney World. The folks at the KOA provided me with a ShopVac to cleanup the glass and some tape and stuff to close up the empty window frame.

I know my company will most likely send me to Atlanta again some day. However, downtown Atlanta will never again get one of my tourist dollars.
