Disappearing Parks

in Florida

Family in front of Sunken Gardens

I know many of the old tourist parks in Florida have been having a hard time competing with the new mega parks. It was in the late '60s when I was last in Florida as a tourist. I have been there since on business, but that is not the same. My business has taken me to Tampa and Miami. Tampa sure has great food.

However, I remember my trips as a youth going to Rainbow Springs, Silver Springs, Busch Gardens, Sunken Gardens, etc. This photo of Sunken Gardens was taken with an early Polaroid (TM). These photos have not held up and I am just now transferring them to digital images before they are all gone.

My kids are now ready to try the new mega parks. Therefore we are planning a Florida vacation. May be some of the old parks will be there. We'll see what my kids think.
